East Downtown (affectionately known as EaDo) is one of Houston’s most interesting neighborhoods, thanks to:
NEW DEVELOPMENTS: Over the last few years, developers have invested over $250 million into EaDo. Notable developments include: BBVA Stadium, MetroRail expansion, and new apartment and townhome complexes. In addition, EaDo resides about 200 feet away from the George R. Brown Convention Center.
HIGH ACCESSIBILITY: EaDo borders downtown Houston and is one of Houston’s Most Walkable Neighborhoods, benefiting from dozens of new (highly rated) restaurants, bars, breweries and gyms. In addition, since EaDo is located on Houston’s MetroRail, EaDo offers easy access to the Medical Center.
STRONG REAL ESTATE MARKET: East Downtown’s real estate market has been one of the best performing Houston neighborhoods over the past one, five and ten-year periods. In addition, EaDo ranks near the top for Houston’s Best Neighborhoods In Land Value Appreciation.
AFFORDABILITY: Despite the fact EaDo has performed well, the median sale price in EaDo is still attractive compared to nearby neighborhoods like Midtown, Montrose, and Rice Military. One affordable, fabulous subdivision to consider is Eastwood.
PROXIMITY TO JOB CENTERS: EaDo is immediately adjacent to Downtown Houston. The district is also a few minutes from the Texas Medical Center, Houston Ship Channel, and Greenway Plaza.
WIDE RANGE OF HOUSING OPTIONS: East Downtown offers single-family homes, townhomes, and condos. Notable condo projects include: Herrin Lofts, Stanford Lofts, and Ivy Lofts (view all Houston Condos Near METRORail).
EaDo real estate can be tricky to navigate given the neighborhood’s new construction (some builders have very low quality and/or reliability scores), railroad tracks (you don’t want to live too close to one), amount of major thoroughfares (you don’t want to live on one).
